Yosemite National Park

Over Tioga Pass to Yosemite National Park!

The road was under construction and parts were stop and wait traffic backed up the steep roads. Not too fun on a motorcycle but with this scenery like this you couldn’t pick a better place to be in a traffic jam.

One of the alpine lakes at the top of the pass.

Cece was starting to get a bit sick 🙁  and getting on and off the bike made her queasy.

A view of the famous Half Dome on the side just above the bike.

Yellowstone bear in Yosemite 😉

It was starting to get a little late by now and we realized there was no way that we’d make it down all the way to the village and back up again before dark and we headed back across the Pass to find a motel as close to Death Valley as possible to get an early start in the morning.

A view from the other direction of the way we came up.   We defenately need to come back and spend more than 5 hours here next time.  Next trip Cece has decided she wants to do SoCal and AZ that we missed, we’ll be back next year!

Headed back down the valley.

A lone Sequioa tree on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere for a memorial, it was just over 100 years old.  Just a baby…

The road was under construction again like always and we saw signs for detours to Manzanar National Historic Site.  I’d never heard of it before and it looked like it’d be really out of the way down some gravel roads so we kept going,  we found out the next day it was where the Japanese concentration camps were during WWII.  Damn, that would have been interesting to see..

We also missed the Bristle Cone Pines Forrest down the road behind the bike in the pic above, it was quite a ways off the main road and again we were short on time 🙁  I really want to see them sometime.
